Hi there! My name is Jamie, and I am looking to raise funds for a support community I am growing. The purpose of this community is to provide support to parents who have ADHD and other neurodiversities. I am a late-diagnosed mother of 3 with ADHD. Both pre and post diagnosis i went looking for parenting support because it has been an aspect of my life that I have really struggled with. It wasn't until I got my diagnosis did i begin to understand why I struggled. As I went looking for support that worked, not just for my children, but for the way my brain works, I quickly came to find that there was nothing. After a period of mental health decline due to feeling helpless, I began to research and connect with other parents like me who had no luck in finding support. This is where Parents With ADHD was born. I felt that if I couldn't find the help, I would create it. The current parenting support available has been designed and structured for families with neurotypical parents and does not factor in the differences in how neurodivergent brains work, unless that brain is that of the child. Here is my plan: I plan to reshape the current parenting support available and make it suitable and achievable for neurodivergent parents. I am currently providing online support groups for parents to come and discuss the struggles they face and explore strategies to develop their parenting skills. I have a podcast that is in its planning phase at present, and I look to start recording in March/April. I will also be creating courses for parents, so that they can work to understand themselves and how to adjust strategies to better suit themselves, their families and their lifestyles. I am going to be writing a book shortly that will focus on what it is like to be a neurodivergent parent, how parenting destroys the masks we have spent our lives using to cope with the world, and how to move forward with confidence and without the need for masks. Any funds raised will go towards research for resources I will be providing, resources like courses, books, workbooks, and growing the brand's online presence to reach more parents globally. My goal with this project is to achieve a reduction in the number of neurodivergent parents who need support but are left sitting in the gap where there is no suitable support for them. I want to reduce the number of neurodiverse parents left feeling the way I did, by being the place they can come for a variety of resources, courses, support groups, etc so that neurodiverse parents can enjoy parenthood, rather than live every day feeling like they have to survive it.
